Gelatos on Water Color Resist

Hello, hello!

I love the way this card turned out for my granddaughter, Kassidy, age 13.  The colors she chose look beautiful blended together.  Thanks to YouTube and Faber-Castell, Kassidy is learning to do different techniques with the box of Gelatos we gave her for her birthday.  I will give the link  for the video below.  Her Gelatos technique cards have been punched with a hole and hooked together so she can use them as a reference in days to come. The media and technique used have been written on the back of each card.  The hole punch and eyelet are from a box set of The Original Crop-A-Dile, purchased at Archiver’s Scrapbook Store which is no longer local.  I couldn’t find it on their website, either.  However, Amazon.com carries it, not in a box set, but sold separately.  See the link below.

The background paper and the pictures Kass colored and cut out are from a Prima 6X6 inch Paintables Water Color-Resist Paper Pad (linked below).  The pad has 6 printed papers and 6 resist papers in the same images.  She scribbled Faber-Castell Gelato (linked below) in Cotton Candy in the center and then Pistachio Gelato around the perimeter. Using a baby wipe, Kassidy blended the colors and smoothed out the scribbles.  Because the water color paper had come with white embossing stamped on it, the stamped areas resisted holding onto the color.  To finish the background she decided to put a little Chocolate Gelato around the edges and blend it in.  Kassidy then took another page out of the paper pad and colored her selection of pictures with Tombow Markers (linked below).  She cut out the pictures with scissors.  She told me, “This is not easy to cut neatly, Mimi.  I don’t know how well I will do.”  I said, “Just do your best and it will be fine.”  As you can see, it was.  Afterwards, she glued the pictures on the background with Liquitex Matte Gel (this is similar to Ranger’s Multi Medium Matte).  I asked Kassidy where she learned to give her coloring a vintage look.  She answered, “YouTube.”  🙂  That’s my girl!  We are the YouTube generation!
