Freehand Watercolor

Sail Away WatercolorHi Everyone,

Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge this week is using the following colors:

SSS WedSince this mood board was designed by Jenn Shurkus, I looked at her card on Simon Says Stamp, then went to her blog to see which colors she used.  These colors translate to Tim Holtz Distress Inks in Broken China, Scattered Straw, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire mixed (in my opinion) and Pumice Stone.  Simon allows 5 cards to be entered into their Wednesday Challenge, so this was my first attempt.

Working freehanded, I started by laying down what represents the sun.  Then I used Pumice Stone for the land and the bottom of the card ended up being water.  I went up from the sun with Broken China, Peacock Feathers and Chipped Sapphire.  Then I filled in places here and there.  I made the sailboats.  The raindrops and sentiment have been stamped.  The background was painted with Scattered Straw.  I marked around the border with a Pumice Stone Distress Marker.

That’s that.  I’ll try again tomorrow and see what I come up with.  These are not colors I would choose to use, so I like this challenge.  What do you think?  If you like this page, please click on LIKE at the bottom.  Make a comment at the top under the title and make my day!

Thanks a lot,
