The irony of this title, “Burlap and Gold.” But how true! The Son of God, sent from heaven, born in a stable and laid in a manger for His bed. The wise men brought him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. This Son of God, Jesus, grew up as a carpenter’s son. As a man, He traveled, speaking of His kingdom to come, but He had nowhere to lay His head. He now lives in splendor again in heaven, which He once left in order to come to Earth and redeem mankind from sin.
This card was made by blending Tim Holtz distress inks on watercolor paper. The sky portion was sprinkled with water droplets while the ground was covered. The sentiment is from Strawberry Jude Stamps Tag It: Christmas stamp set and embossed with Hero Arts white embossing powder. The snowy star is from Strawberry Jude, as well, and was embossed with Recollections Opaque Bling. I just love this image.
The wise men and nativity are also from the Tag It: Christmas stamp set. I masked off the inside of the stable to create the houses that made a village. The wise men and stable were heat embossed with Recollections Clear Bark Embossing Powder.
