Shaker Fridge Magnet

Hello everyone,

I had to think of something different to do for Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge this week since the theme is Anything But a Card.  So I decided to put my new package of Sunny Studio Jolly Gingerbread stamps and dies to work.  I was so excited to get this set.  I just love gingerbread people, houses and all of the cookie and candy décor.

  • MISTI Stamping Tool or acrylic block
  • Bristol Paper or watercolor paper
  • Versafine Black Ink Pad – Let this dry after stamping before water coloring.
  • Sunny Studio Stamps Jolly Gingerbread Stamps

  • Zig Markers:  beige, geranium red, deep green, light pink, light blue, yellow, orange
  • Tim Holtz Watercolor Brush – Spread the color.
  • heat gun – Dry between layers of color.
  • rag – Press down on wet image to remove “paper peel.”

Start by using a light color.  I don’t want my cookies to burn!  Here I am using beige.  Spread out the color with the water brush.  Use the heat gun to dry the wetness.  Add more color to one side of the image.  I used the left side.  If adding too many layers, the Bristol paper will start to peel.  Pat a rag on the wetness to pick up any loose peel.

  • Pilot Precise V5 RT or any fine tip pen that doesn’t smear.

When the paper is dry, trace over the black lines of each image.

  • Sunny Studio Stamps Jolly Gingerbread Dies or Cut the images out with scissors.
  • Cuttlebug Embossing and Die Cut Machine
  • Post-It Tape

  • Zig 2 Way Glue Squeeze and Roll or any thin glue
  • Tim Holtz Distress Stickles Dry Glitter, Clear Rock Candy

Clean up the smeared edges of the die cuts with the white gel pen.  Put a thin coat of glue on the gumdrops and sprinkle them with the glitter.  Photo below.  Set this aside to dry.

  • My Favorite Things Pinking Edge Circle Stax Die Set – Use the second to the largest die.
  • Cuttlebug
  • 110# Neenah Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock or any thick card
  • Authentique 6×6 inch Paper Pad, Colorful Christmas
  • Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue

After die cutting, glue the printed paper to the thick cardstock.

  • Avery Magnet Sheet or any other brand
  • Creative Memory Circle Cutting System, 3 inches, or any circle cutting method
  • Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue

Glue the magnet circle to the back of the pinking edge circle.

  • Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue
  • Sakura Black Glaze Pen – eyes
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops

Glue the images onto the front of the circle.  Embellish the gingerbread kids and cookie tree with the Nuvo Drops.  Let it dry.

  • Lawn Fawn Hemp Cord, Mistletoe
  • Ranger Multi Medium Matte Glue
  • Jillibean Soup Large Circle Shaped Shaker

While the images dry, glue the hemp cord to the base of the Circle Shaped Shaker window.  Let this dry.

  • Stampendous Shaved Ice
  • Twinklets Diamond Dust
  • Simon Says Stamp Snow Drift Sequins

When everything is dry, fill the Circle Shaped Shaker window with “snow.”  Remove the plastic from the tape around the window and stick the pinking edge circle to the tape, being careful to center it.

  • Lawn Fawn Hemp Cord, Mistletoe
  • Zots Clear Adhesive Dots, small

Tie one or two bows and attach to the base of the circle window with adhesive dots.

I tried taking a picture of the magnet on the refrigerator, but because it was nightlight, the lighting was terrible.  So I had to wait and take the photo outside in daylight.

I like this Jillibean Soup Large Circle Shaped Shaker window and look forward to making a shaker card with another one.  There are six windows in a package.  What I don’t like, however, is that I have to attach the backing upside down, making it hard to get things centered.  Maybe there’s an easier way to stick them together.  If anyone knows, please let me know.

Thanks for stopping by,

Trish
