Sunday Sample: A Standing Display

1         Howdy,

I had another January birthday to celebrate, this time with my dear husband.  Jan has a 1965 red Ford pickup, so I knew he would like this standup display I made for him, and he does!  He’s told me two different times that he likes this truck.

When I saw Maymay demonstrate using this stamp on YouTube, “Maymay Made It and You Can Too!”, I was sold.  It is part of a Memory Lane Stamp Set.  The cupcake is from Sunny Studio Stamps, which lately has become one of my favorite stamp companies.  I’ll put the links below.   After coloring the images, I cut them out with scissors and go around the sides with a black marker.  Cut a slit along the top of the truck bed.  Insert the cupcake.

  • 110# Neenah Solar White Cardstock
  • MISTI Stamping Tool
  • VersaFine Onyx Black Stamp Pad
  • Maymay Made It – Memory Lane Truck Stamp
  • Sunny Studio Stamps, Sweet Shoppe
  • Scissors
  • Primacolor Colored Pencils
  • Prismacolor Blending Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Memento Tuxedo Black Dual Tip Marker
  • Craft Knife

Next, I prepared the background.

The Sky

  • Ranger Watercolor Paper, cut to 6.50 x 4.50 inches
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads in Chipped Sapphire (start at the top), Broken China, Tumbled Glass, blended together.  Leave 1/3 of the card at the bottom plain.  Edge the paper with Chipped Sapphire.
  • Ranger Mini-Blending Tool

The Trees

  • Tim Holtz Woodland Layering Stencil, short tree upper right
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad, Pine Needles
  • Finger Dauber

Let this dry as long as you can.  I wish I had let my trees dry longer so the       snow wasn’t stained with the green ink.

The Ground

  • Zig Clean Color Real Brush Marker, Gray Tint – Draw an uneven line under the trees across the paper to make the landscape.  Scribble shadow lines under the trees.  Lay the truck with the cupcake down on the paper to make shadows under the truck, then remove them.
  • Ranger’s Archiver Ink Pad, Coffee
  • finger dauber – Use Coffee ink to make truck tracks with the edge of the dauber.

Stamp the Sentiments

  • Fiskars Make a Wish Quotes
  • MISTI Stamping Tool
  • VersaFine Onyx Black Stamp Pad

Add the Snow

Using the stencil again, apply snow on top of the trees and on the ground.  Let this dry.

  • Tim Holtz Woodland Layering Stencil, short tree upper left
  • palette knife
  • Aleene’s Glitter Snow

The Card Back

  • Sizzix Tim Holtz Easel Die
  • Cuttlebug Embossing and Die Cutting Machine
  • 110# Neenah Solar White Cardstock
  • Scissors – This easel is too tall for a landscape card, so I trimmed off the bottom edge so it would fit behind my card base.
  • 100# Simon Says Stamp Cardstock, Sunshine – cut to 7 x 5 inches – This is not a folding card.  I wanted this card to be a standing display.
  • Scrapbook E-Z Runner Permanent Adhesive – Adhere the easel to the back of the card base.

Assemble the Front

  • Scrapbook E-Z Runner Permanent Adhesive – Adhere the background to the card base.  Adhere the cupcake to the truck bed.
  • Scotch Foam Double-Sided Permanent Tape – Adhere the truck with the cupcake onto the card front.
  • Glossy Accents – Cover the truck and cupcake with this.  Set the card aside to dry.

So if you want to make a card to display on a table or shelf, this is a good way to go.  I’ve tried another easel, but I like this one better.  You’ll see another easel card using the other method below.  Thanks for taking a look at my blog.  Do come again.

Mom thanks

Thank you, Lorraine. It’s always good hearing from you. I want to show you a Competitive Cheerleading Competition Kassidy was in yesterday in Atlanta. They placed first. Is it okay if I send it to you via your SSS Hotmail? ❤

Love the scene and lay-out of your card. We are so blessed for your participation in our last Challenge and would love for you to join us again in our current Challenge at Word Art Wednesday. Leaving you with this Scripture inspiration from Colossians 2:6-7 which tells us, “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Have a blessed week.
